The Brief Pause And Return Of Lava To The Kilauea Summit - Timelapses

12:53 AM · Dec 8, 2021

Lava returned to the Halema'uma'u Crater yesterday evening, December 7, after a very brief pause in activity that started on December 3. Much of the footage of this pause and the return of lava to the summit is complicated by the recent Kona Low system that drenched much of the island in large amounts of precipitation. Steam blocking the cameras was a common sight, making it hard to see exactly the recent activity proceeded. Here is my attempt to sanitize the footage, using three of the USGS webcams, removing the bad frames to make it easier to watch.
