We took the opportunity to interview Talmadge Magno, Administrator of Hawaii County Civil Defense, about the 2022 Mauna Loa eruption. We discuss the concerns and stress of the first hours of the eruption when lava erupted inside the Moku'āweoweo caldera, the migration of the eruption into the Northeast Rift Zone, and the establishment of the Traffic Hazard Mitigation Route (lava viewing area).
