Kīlauea Eruption Update & USGS Volcano Awareness Month Presentations

Kīlauea's eruption continues, having burst forth once again from its West Vent after each of another two day-long pauses in the past week. The eruption and emission pattern still closely mirrors the pressure changes seen in ground-tilt, with the pauses occurring during deflation-inflation events. A flurry of small earthquakes at the base of the volcano under its summit and upper magma reservoirs indicates some deeper adjustments but has not apparently affected the eruption at the surface. We review these details, while still noting no change in threat to people, using webcams, monitoring signals and reports courtesy of the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
