3:05 AM · Feb 24, 2021

Kīlauea's eruption continues, but shows signs of waning with continually dropping gas emissions, now down to ~1% of its peak during the first week. New: - SO2 emissions halved again to 600 t/d, lowest since eruption began - Deflation-Inflation cycle in last 2 days nearing completion - Lava “weaker and slower” out of West Vent - Lava lake depths hovering; last week: 215-218 m (705 - 715 ft) - Active lava surface remains west of main “island” We review the monitoring signals and new media publicly available from the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, while offering geologic narration and annotation and taking live viewer questions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x05uRJ_5D2Q
