5:07 AM · Jan 5, 2021Over two weeks into the 2020-21 summit eruption at Kīlauea volcano: New: -Lava lake becomes perched by growing levees -Dome fountain appears near submerged portion of western vent Ongoing: -Slow filling of Halema’uma’u crater continues -The northern vent spatter cone is almost fully submerged -Gas emissions still steady, pressure continues slow drop We present a summary of USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory data & imagery spanning the last 2 days, as we have continually during this eruption.
