Kaho'olawe Island Brush Fire

7:09 PM · Feb 23, 2020

In what started yesterday, Maui fire fighters continue to monitor a small brush fire from a far on Kaho'olawe. Unexploded ordinances left behind on Kaho'olawe make the island to dangerous to combat the flames. There is no plans to combat the flames due to this hazard. The fire has been mostly confined to the southern side of the island at Kaalai-Kahiki and is expected to burn itself out. Map via NASA FIRMS, Photo from Deb Mader
