Hawaiian Volcano Update: Kīlauea Eruption Summary, Maunaloa Cools

Since the resumption of Kīlauea's summit eruption yesterday, lava has flooded over two-thirds of the 300-acre crater floor, but surface activity has been diminishing since its peak. We recap the eruption sequence using webcam timelapses, videos, and reports courtesy of the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, making comparisons to the opening sequence of the 2021 eruption.
