Combined footage of the 2018 Kilauea Eruption, May 18th and 19th. Phase 2 of the eruption begins with multiple large lava flows from Fissure 20, a dramatic escalation from previous days. Activity goes from bad to worse as the dramatic escalation catches many off guard. Pohoiki Road is covered with lava, and lava makes it's way into the ocean. This series tells one version of the 2018 Kilauea eruption on the Lower East Rift Zone, where lava erupted in a residential neighborhood. The story is told through available footage from many sources, including USGS, Hawaii Count Civil Defense, DoD, National Guard, DLNR, and private citizens. This series will go through each day of the eruption and tell the story from the lens of a Leilani Estates resident.
