Drones On - May 11th-13th, 2018 Kilauea Eruption - Fissure Labels Get Confusing

4:53 AM · May 19, 2021

Combined footage of the 2018 Kilauea Eruption, May 11th, 12th and 13th. After days of paused activity, Fissure 16 emerges near Lanipuna Gardens. Confusion around the designation of Fissures 17 and 18 shows the limitations of the fissure labeling during the eruption. This series tells one version of the 2018 Kilauea eruption on the Lower East Rift Zone, where lava erupted in a residential neighborhood. The story is told through available footage from many sources, including USGS, Hawaii Count Civil Defense, DoD, National Guard, DLNR, and private citizens. This series will go through each day of the eruption and tell the story from the lens of a Leilani Estates resident. The purpose of this series is to give a little more understanding of what it was like for a volcano to erupt in the middle of a community in which you call home. Footage in this episode curtesy of USGS, Mick Kalber, Andrew Hara, Byron Matthews, and Ikaika Marzo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ram1KzVI7HY

When you have all of the videos posted, you should stitch them all together and also have 1 full length video as well. Just edit out the endings so there's a smooth transition between the videos.
