A Steamy Fissure 8 (Ahu ʻAilāʻau) Overflight This Morning
9:08 PM · Nov 19, 2020Fissure 8 remains mostly unchanged following the end of the 2018 eruption. Trace amounts of volcanic gas and large amounts of steam are the main emissions for the last two years. This morning was especially steamy following the rain showers over the past few days. We continue to monitor the Lower East Rift Zone and the site of the 2018 eruption for signs of change. Currently Kilauea remains at background levels of activity with no eruption expected in the immediate future. https://youtu.be/OjwvqGU7Sgc
