A Rainy Day In Hilo Town, NWS Update
12:19 AM · Mar 10, 2021Wet weather in Hilo town today, but river heights remain below flood levels as rain continues to fall. Currently, the river height of the Wailuku river is just above 12ft. The flood stage on the Wailuku River is designated by the NWS when the height surpases 14ft. The only road closures currently are Kamehameha Ave. and Pauahi St. in Hilo, though there are places on the roads around Hilo where water is pooling. "Radar and rain gages indicated heavy rain continuing over the South Hilo and Puna Districts on the Big Island. The highest rain rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour were over the lower slopes of the Puna District from Kalapana to Kapoho. Rainfall over the Kau District has been easing. Rainfall will continue for several hours as more rain moves ashore from the southeast.
