Seabird Monitoring at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park via LouAnna Pineapples at 7:00pm HST "The `Ua`u (Hawaiian Petrel) and the ‘Akēʻakē (Band-rumped storm petrel) are seabirds that spend most of their lives on the open ocean only coming to land to breed. These species nest on the barren lava flows of Mauna Loa within Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park. Join Charlotte Forbes Perry, biologist with the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU), UH Manoa, at Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park and Dr Michelle Reynolds of Hawai`i Detector Dogs, LLC to share what they found during the 2022 monitoring season with the help of their canine colleague, Slater. Program co-sponsored by Friends of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park."
