Kīlauea Eruption Update, Maunaloa, Samoa & Pohoiki, August 19, 2022
3:03 AM · Aug 20, 2022Kīlauea continues to erupt quietly and spectacularly in its normal current pattern, and as usual we review webcam time-lapses, monitoring data and reports courtesy of the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. We check back in with neighboring Maunaloa following its recent seismic activity, still quietly adjusting as it continues its long-term inflation. The USGS-HVO has deployed and is responding to increased volcanic earthquakes in American Samoa, occurring between Taʻu and Ofu-Olosega volcanoes, and we summarize public releases regarding that activity as well. Finally, we recap the public meeting on the boat ramp at Pohoiki that was streamed yesterday from Pahoa. So far, there is no increased threat to people from any of the volcanoes mentioned today, and Kīlauea continues to offer visitors fantastic views. https://youtu.be/BzE5FdHy-BM
