Marine life suffers and a quiet July 4th as the sounds of smells of fireworks were much less appealing. Fissure 22ʻs Strombolian style eruption builds up a very pronounced cone. This series tells one version of the 2018 Kilauea eruption on the Lower East Rift Zone, where lava erupted in a residential neighborhood. The story is told through available footage from many sources, including USGS, Hawaii Count Civil Defense, DoD, National Guard, DLNR, and private citizens. This series will go through each day of the eruption and tell the story from the lens of a Leilani Estates resident. Footage in this episode courtesy of USGS, Hawaii County Civil Defense, HI Department of Defense, Mick Kalber, Ikaika Marzo, Scott Wilson, and Stacy Welch.
