53 New Cases of COVID-19 in the state, Nov 17th

These numbers are from Sunday, which has shown to have less tests processed than Tues-Sat. 6 new cases on island via Hawaii DoH, 3 new cases via HCCD. There have been a total of 1,485 (+6) confirmed cases on Hawaiʻi Island according to DoH. There have been 180 cases on island in the last two weeks. As of yesterday there were 9 hospitalized on the island (HCCD). Department of Health data indicates that the new cases are concentrated in West Hawaii and in many people under forty years old. (HCCD) Hawaii Island Deaths Total: 49 (0) – "7 community at the Hilo Medical Center, 4 community at the Kona Community Hospital, 10 from Life Care Center, per their website, 27 from the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home." (HMC, Life Care Center). One fatality is outstanding from classification. Yesterday, 7-day average on test positivity on island was at 1.6%, the state's positivity rate is now at 2.1%. On Saturday (11.14.20) there was 411 tests processed on island. 749 passenger arrivals on island Nov 15th. Visitation has not changed significantly from the initial Oct 15th reopening after 1 month. STATE STATS: Total Cases Statewide: 16,665 (+53 today) Cases in the past 14 days: **1,440 Total Hospitalizations: 1,212 (+2) Total Deaths: 222 (0) NOTE: Noon updates are back. Only 31 of HI's 48 deaths have been added to records by DoH, there is at least a 1 month delay. *As a result of updated information, one case on Oahu was removed from the counts **Using cases reported in the past 14 days provides a rough approximation of the number of cases currently meeting criteria for isolation. This proxy number for “active cases” resolves classification issues for cases unable to be reached or who are out of jurisdiction, for whom precise release from isolation date may not be possible to determine. It is also not influenced by lags in data entry.
