Snow and High Winds Expected for Hawaii Island Summits
7:56 PM · Feb 6, 2020Hawai'i Island summits are under a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY from noon today (2/6/20) until 6AM tomorrow (2/7/20); also under HIGH WIND WARNING from 6 AM this morning to 11 AM Sunday (2/9/20). From the National Weather Service: Deep moisture along a front will move over the Big Island today and tonight, producing periods of snow showers and freezing rain. The threat of significant winter weather may extend into Friday. Total snow accumulations of up to 5 inches on summits above 10,500 feet. Southwest to west winds will increase through the morning hours over the Big Island summits. Sustained wind speed will range from 45 to 75 mph with localized gusts over 90 mph.
