Dozing Highway 132 - Day 10 (Full Aerial Footage) Bulldozers have punched through the lava channel and reached the Highway 132 kipuka, reestablishing a section of road through 1.6 miles of lava flows that crossed highway last year. Workers are grading the highs and lows along the previous route for Hwy 132. Plans currently include a fairly narrow roadway and no shoulders, at least in the opening phase of construction. There were some limitations on how wide the county could make the road without further delays (grading rights). For full FEMA reimbursement the county must complete work by October 5th, 2019. After the top section of Highway 132 the bottom section connecting back to Four Corners and Beach Road is next section to be dozed through.
Finally!
